The name moonstone comes from its milky appearance when it’s held up against the light. In addition to being a gem in its own right moonstones are often cut into cabochons and set in silver. It usually takes on a white luster, but moonstones can also range from light to dark blue, yellow, and brown.

While many cultures consider the Moonstone lucky it’s actually used for more than just charm and good luck. This gem is often worn around the neck for fertility and for safe childbirth. It’s also used to help with plant growth.  Moonstones are often set in rings because jewelry made out of this gem is believed to have the power to ward off negative energy, curses, and psychic attacks.
